FunFlight needs you! The aim of the FunFlight day is for pilots to volunteer their aircraft and skills to give sick children and their families a day away that's fun and lets them get their mind off illness. In conjunction with an aeroclub or other voluntary organisation in your area, we aim to create a day which involves a flight, entertainment and other activities based around an aviation theme.
The 2007 event (click here for reports, photos and feedback) was based in Melbourne and consisted of private pilots congregating at Moorabbin Airport on Sunday morning for coffee and a pre-flight briefing. Following this, pilots were introduced to their passengers and took them for a scenic flight around Port Phillip Bay before landing at Tyabb airfield where all participants enjoyed lunch, an aerobatic display, a visit by the police helicopter and other activities. At the end of the day, a streamed departure saw all aircraft and participants safely back at Moorabbin before the pilots scattered to their home airfields.
The 2008 FunFlight event aims to offer similar events right across Australia and we are looking for pilots and organisers to put on each local event. (If you are connected with an organisation which may be interested in organising and event, please click here). By registering your interest with us we'll keep you informed on what local organisation is putting on your nearest event, what they are planning and final registration details as the date approaches.
